In our modern days the media and information plays a big role in our lives. Its power is unmeasurable that it can change a people’s way of living, the way people perceive life, their visions, and even their lifestyle and we already proven to ourselves that the media and information plays a big role in our lives. And in the past few years we people are having difficulties when it comes in communication in order to get the information that we wanted. In our present days this kind of tasks are pretty much easier than before were unlike before its hard sending mails in distant places and difficulties in retrieving fresh news because of slow flow of information. Until mankind keep on searching and developing the ways for easy and faster way of communication and faster retrieval of information until it reach our present days where a new media has been made and the information that we need is everywhere. But in exchange of new media and information, new problem arises too.

We seem find and search easily in our present days and everyone of us is a user of media and information and carries a great responsibility to use it appropriately. It has different functions and roles in the society it can be used as source of information and a way for easy communication and one of the examples that has this kind of features is cellphone. We have different forms of media that is very useful to the society and the new knowledge and information were able to develop new technologies and new types of media. But again having this has a partner of great responsibility. Any information that we needed can be found anytime and anywhere but the problem is the reliability of the information that we get specially nowadays were fake information is flooding the internet and in different social media platforms. Examples of this are the group of people called Citizen Journalists, this group of people are providing and posting information that is not straight or should we say not relevant informations. Citizen Journalism can empower ordinary people to be responsible and to be a provider of information and it can promote self awareness of what is happening inside and outside the country however, it can cause problems such as distribution of non-reliable informations. In order to avoid such problems we must be become a media and information literated person and we should know how to locate and test the reliability of information we get everyday.

Many people deceives the others by the power of media and information and we also use it to communicate with others. Media and information brought us many things, both good and bad things and those things were partnered with a great responsibility.

We all know that nowadays we are very dependent to technology and by the use of technology we are able to gather some information about what is happening around us. So why is it important to be literate in information and media? What does it mean of being information and media literate person? Are we able to gain some benefits out of it?

Those persons that is media and information literated are able to engage to the digital society and this persons needs to have deep understanding about the value of information and media literacy. But some people have difficulty in learning because of lack of experience in using technology. Being information and media literate person is very important because as I mention earlier it make us able to engage in digital society but not only that we are also able to give or share some correct information to others. For example sharing some weather forecast in facebook as an responsible person you will share the information that came from trusted sites. Being information and media literate person has also a benefit specially to students they may use mobile technologies to graph mathematical problems, research a question for social studies, text message an expert for information, or send homework to a drop box. 

Information and media literacy has a very big contribution in education because it teaches us in proper use of different media and proper sharing of information. But also remember that technology has also a disadvantages.
